Brant Losinski
(vocals, lead, rhythm and slide guitar)
Brant Losinski brings his soulful and smooth vocals, creative and expressive guitar work and engaging stage presence to Rootstand, as well as arrangements and songwriting. He is also one of the major organizers for the band. Brant, along with John, created the original foundation for Rootstand nearly ten years ago. Originally from Northern Michigan, Brant has also lived and performed in the mountains and streets of Seattle and the Olympic Peninsula, eventually coming back to Ann Arbor and earning a degree in Literature, Creative writing and Native American Studies at the University of Michigan.
John Snyder
(harmonica, guitar, vocals)
John contributes lead and rhythm guitar, vocals, and smokin' harmonica, as well as songwriting and arrangment.John is also originally from northern Michigan, but has traveled extensively in Europe and has lived in Germany, Ireland, and Washington state. John has a degree from Kalamazoo College, where he studied literature, writing, musicology, and art.
Matt Pernar
(kit drums)
Matt Pernar mans the drum set for Rootstand, skillfully melding blues, reggae, bluegrass, and solid rhythmic interpretation to provide the foundation to the music. Matt is originally from Colorado, but now makes his home in Ypsilanti MI, painting, reading, and performing superhuman feats of long distance tour driving.
Tim Sheldon
(banjo, vocals)
Tim is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist who origianally hails from Port Edward, Ontario. Other than playing the banjo, Tim spends his time pursuing outdoor adventures like kayaking, skateboarding, hanging with his fiance' and dogs, and working at the YMCA with local kids. Tim is also a principle member in Mossy Mountain bluegrass band, from Kalamazoo, MI where he now lives. Tim is an avid Cubs fan, and loves to sneak off to Chicago whenever possible to route for his team.
Paul Lippens
(vocals, mandolin)
Navigating the high end of Rootstand's sound with rock'n roll melodies and rippin' mandolin. Paul is a graduate of Hampshire College in Massachusetts, and has a masters degree from the University of Michigan. Paul currently lives in Indianapolis, IN. Paul also contributes to songwriting, recording, and music development. He also has his own band, roots rockers Paul's Big Radio.
Doug Albright
(bass)
Doug Albright has been skillfully jamming and bringing sweet harmonies to the Rootstand for almost two years now...Upright, electric, singing high harmony or backing some country boy hip hop, doug has it covered with a fresh new flavor... Another alpena native, Doug got his bachelor's degree in Marquette at NMU before moving to Detroit to attend Wayne state for grad school. don't worry we'll get a pic up soon.
